WBL Workshop #1

     WBL (Work Based Learning) is an opportunity for students to learn skills in school they can utilize in real life jobs. By doing this students work towards developing skills they can use to attain their desired job or career. Web Design is a CTE course that involves WBL. In Web Design there are 54 units of WBL. Included are 30 hours of community service that need to be completed within 3 years. Some community service opportunities will be offered throughout the year so students don't feel like they won't be able to complete my community service hours or they were not given the opportunity to do so. Internships are also a requirement throughout the years this academy. I am currently a Junior and I have completed one paid internship. Students will also attend a variety of career fairs, giving them the opportunity to search job options/paths.

     In addition to these things WBL includes workshops, CTE Expos, Resume making, and guest speakers. At workshops and guest events we learn about the professional world by being lectured by someone experienced in our field of study and taking part in activities such as designing a game. At Expos, one of which I have finished, we use what we learn to recruit new members to our academy by explaining things we do and showing them through demonstrations or presentations.

Favorite Teacher Project Reflection

     The second project for DD this year was about creating a website in appreciation of your favorite teacher. This project was a lot like the our first project except it revolved around a teacher and not movies, otherwise, it required all the same skills we learned in the first project. Just like in the first project, the beginning steps were not in the computer, rather, they were on paper. After deciding which teacher to make the site about (Ms. Sakhno), I begun by creating wireframes both of the website itself and how the folders for the project would be organized. My website wireframe consisted of 4 pages all with relative links that took the user to all the other pages from any single page. Emoti-Con 2019 Reflection

     Emoti-Con is  a conference held every year in NYC where teens across the 5 boroughs get to express themselves through technology and digital media. Teens get to showcase projects they've been working on and learn about how to improve their skills from each other and guest speakers. Teens can also learn about the path they need to take to seek a career in the industry. Projects also get entered into a competition that can win one of several digital badges. I'm on the left      I entered for Emoti-Con 2019 a month before the actual event along with the same team that I worked with for G4C and submitted Project Xeno. The actual event came on the 11th of May at NYPL and my team had prepared a poster board walking through our motives and development process just for the occasion.
