Lab 6 Reflection

     In lab 6 we created a banner and nameplate for our web page. A banner is a graphical image or art that identifies the website and usually spans across the top of the site. A nameplate identifies the author of the site; it can almost be seen as a digital signature. A namplate comes at the bottom of the content. The nameplate and banner were both designed in PhotoShop. Since we were making this for use on the web the specifications were specific. Fist we made sure in PhotoShop CC 2018 that we were in the web presets when creating a new document. The dimensions for both were 700px by 100px and resolution 72. These dimensions are to ensure that the banner is the correct size and won't appear too large in smaller windows but not too small in larger windows. After we were done designing both were saved as a JPEG and saved to the Lab 6 folder.
     Then came inserting the banner and nameplate in the HTML document for Lab 6. To ensure the banner would always be at the top of our web page we inserted it in between the <head> tags. We used <img> tags like we would in the <body> to insert an image but the only thing different is that it's in <head>. Once the banner was inserted the nameplate needed to be inserted. This was inserted using an <img> tag but we needed to make sure it was inserted all the way at the end of the <body>. That way it will be at the very bottom of the page as it should be. 
     These skills are important to a web designer because a web designer should know how to make their page identifiable. A banner makes a web page/site identifiable to a person or company. If designed well a banner can easily identify a group or individual behind a site (the audience takes one look and already knows what company it is) and make it unique just how a logo makes a company easily recognizable in advertising. These skills also help a web designer claim a work as theirs in a unique way. A nameplate identifies the artist/author and makes it known to whom an intellectual property belongs to. It is like a digital signature but you can do more than lines for a line signature, you can make unique artwork or a logo that makes you known as a designer. It can also make your name as a designer more well known as well.

Favorite Teacher Project Reflection

     The second project for DD this year was about creating a website in appreciation of your favorite teacher. This project was a lot like the our first project except it revolved around a teacher and not movies, otherwise, it required all the same skills we learned in the first project. Just like in the first project, the beginning steps were not in the computer, rather, they were on paper. After deciding which teacher to make the site about (Ms. Sakhno), I begun by creating wireframes both of the website itself and how the folders for the project would be organized. My website wireframe consisted of 4 pages all with relative links that took the user to all the other pages from any single page. Lab 20 Reflection

     Lab 20 incorporated many of the things we learned from Lab 18, with the functionality holding many similarities. In Lab 20 we were to create a webpage that compares 2 numbers, x and y. The user is supposed to be able to see if x is greater than y, y is greater than x, x and y are equal, etc. The interface is similar to Lab 18; there is an area to input two values, there is an area with many buttons that lead to a specific outcome, and there is an area to view what the outcome is. Unlike Lab 18, the buttons don't perform an arithmetic operation on the 2 values but check if a certain comparison between the 2 values is true or false. The result area, instead of displaying the result of an arithmetic operation done on 2 numbers, displays if a certain comparison between 2 values is true or false, essentially displaying the result of clicking the now comparison buttons.      I started Lab 20 just like I started Lab 19, by duplicating the code for Lab 18.
